Trying to get an animal to pose for a photograph is a humbling experience, especially if you want him to pose with you. The operative word here is “pose.” I had the bright idea to have a photo of me and Winston touching noses. Winston had different ideas. In one shot, he touched my face with his paws, which was a cute shot of him but made me turn my head so my neck look like the moon’s surface. In another, when I tried holding him up to touch his nose, he went limp as a sack of jelly so it looked as if I had drugged him. This is how he looked after he had convinced me that no way, no how, was he going to condescend to pose with our noses touching.
